Jessica and Mark have been trying for a baby for 12 months. Jessica works as an administration assistant and Mark is a carpenter. Although Jessica had not taken any fertility medication or undergone any treatment in the past, she had very long cycles which made it difficult for her to identify when she was ovulating. She tried to track her own BBT to identify the best time to conceive but was having difficulty waking up at 5am every day. Salena and Jason live in the UK. They both work as police officers and have been trying for a baby for 8 months. When they first started trying for a baby, tests revealed that Salena was not ovulating and she was prescribed clomid by her doctor. Angela and Shane live in London, UK. They have been trying for their first child for 10 months. Although Angela did not have any fertility conditions and was not taking any medication, she was keen to make sure that she got pregnant as quickly and conveniently as possible. Helen & David, aged 33 and 38

Helen & David both live in London, UK. Helen is a marketing director and David is self-employed. They had both been trying for a baby for 20 months. Helen has polycystic ovarian syndrome and had been taking Chinese medicine to try to help her to conceive. She had been using ovulation sticks to try to identify the best time of the month to plan intercourse, but found this very inconvenient. Ruth & Xavier, both aged 34

Ruth and Xavier both live in London, UK where Ruth is a lawyer and Xavier works in finance. Ruth has always had very irregular cycles of up to 70 or 80 days and before starting to try to conceive had been diagnosed with PCOS. During this time Ruth saw a consultant who suggested that once she and Xavier did start trying to conceive he would prescribe her Clomid after just three cycles of trying, because he thought it likely that Ruth might well struggle to become pregnant naturally. In the meantime Ruth began to attempt to pinpoint ovulation in her very long cycles, in the hope that this would help her to conceive when she and Xavier began to try for a baby. She tried ovulation prediction kits and a fertility monitor which used urine samples, but these did not seem to be producing accurate results when compared with her body's natural fertility signs (for example her cervical fluids). Ruth then decided to chart her temperatures (as encouraged by her consultant) but could not face all the early morning temperature starts on top of a very demanding work schedule. Ruth was also worried about the accuracy of her own temperature readings and the time that would be required to fill out the charts. After researching charting on the internet Ruth bought the DuoFertility monitor to do her charting for her and was delighted to find that the ovulation dates shown by DuoFertility matched her body's natural fertility signs and she was getting several days' warning from Duofertility of her most fertile times. Once Ruth and Xavier started to try for a baby they got pregnant naturally within two months. Ruth says, "I honestly think I would not be pregnant now if it were not for DuoFertility! Catherine & Gary, aged 39 and 27

Catherine and Gary both live in Leeds, UK. Catherine is a television news correspondent and Gary is an IT software tester. After trying for a baby for 10 months, Catherine and Gary went to their local fertility clinic to undergo a series of fertility tests and were told that they should consider undergoing IVF. Catherine came across DuoFertility while searching for fertility monitors on the internet, and decided to buy it because she wanted an alternative to IVF, and was tired of having to wake up early everyday to take manual temperature measurements and use ovulation test sticks. Agnes & Robert, aged 35 and 36

Agnes and Robert both live in the Netherlands and have been trying for a baby for two and a half years. Agnes is a psychologist and Robert works as a chemical engineer. Agnes has oligomenorrhea and oligovulation and used Clomid for six months to regulate her cycle. She has undergone various procedures, including SIS, HSG and a hysteroscopy. Before using DuoFertility, Agnes tried to monitor her ovulation using LH tests, but found it very difficult to detect her fertile window due to her irregular cycles. Agnes and Robert decided to use the DuoFertility fertility monitor mainly because it is so much more convenient to use; it doesn’t require Agnes to wake up early every day, and it combines a lot of relevant information to make its predictions. Alison & Graham, aged 42 and 46

Alison & Graham both live in Kent, UK. Alison is an Immigration Officer and Graham is a bricklayer; they have been trying for a baby for just over 2 years. After 9 months of trying to conceive, Alison and Graham requested a referral to a NHS fertility expert. They were very upset to be told straight off that they were already too old to receive NHS funded IVF. After both undergoing a range of fertility tests, they were told there was no known reason for their failure to conceive. Alison was advised to lose weight and keep trying. Alison researched as much as they could to ensure they were having intercourse when she was ovulating. They used ovulation predictor kits and saliva tests, which did not prove to be very accurate. Alison used the advice in the report to get a referral to a consultant who quickly diagnosed her with PCOS and prescribed her with metformin.
