Award after award CTC earns global recognition with DuoFertility
Cambridge Temperature Concepts: Breeding Success
Cambridge,4th of December 2009 (EMBARGOED). Cambridge Temperature Concepts Limited, the award-winning developers of the revolutionary DuoFertility monitor, continues to accrue accolades worldwide. Recently winning space in Silicon Valley at Silicon Valley Comes to Cambridge and reaching the finals for Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Enterprising Women awards, the company is also in line for a UK Trade and Investment award as a “new exporter” at the Genesis Awards later this month, and the Science-Business ACES awards as EU Lifesciences “Spin-out of the year”.
The company has a track record of competition wins, founded by researchers at the University of Cambridge as the result of winning the Downing College business plan competition in 2006, with the £20,000 prize securing patents and proof-of-concept for the fledgling company. Addressing the 2009/10 launch of the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs business plan competition, which the company also won in 2007, CEO Dr. Shamus Husheer cited the benefit of such competitions in converting scientists into business people and research into products.
Of the recent awards and nominations Dr. Husheer said “We are delighted to gain public recognition of our work that these awards present. Having a group of successful Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors inviting us to the Valley, whilst being recognised as one of the top life sciences spin-outs by UK and European commentators, demonstrates the innovation and appeal of our DuoFertility monitor.” Dr. Chausiaux, CSO, commenting on her top-three placing for Enterprising Women’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year said “I am delighted to be seen as a role-model for young women and scientists, particularly given the relevance of our DuoFertility monitor to women and families. I could have remained an academic scientist for years without making the impact on fertility that we have been able to achieve in just 18 months.”
