Using cervical mucus as a fertility clue requires a bit of training, you might not get it right the first month.
The quality of cervical mucus varies from woman to woman and from cycle to cycle, and it can also be affected by external factors such as stress or internal factors such as illness. It is therefore difficult to give precise instructions as to what you should be looking for. But the more experienced you become at studying the clues contained within your cervical mucus, the easier it will be for you to spot any unusual patterns.
So first of all, let’s try to give you some idea of the differences in mucus quality that can exist.

Cervical mucus can be observed at the cervix? or during its passage in the vagina?. This is a relatively simple way of checking blood estrogens? levels and consequently your fertility.

There are two methods: internally and externally.
To check cervical mucus externally you can observe it on the toilet paper as you wipe or directly on your underwear. Alternatively, you can use your fingers, after washing your hands carefully in order to avoid infections. For some women, checking for cervical mucus externally can be difficult. For example, some women simply do not produce enough mucus in order to be able to view it externally.
To check cervical mucus internally you can insert two fingers into the vagina until you reach the cervix and then press (gently) against the cervix. You should be able to collect some mucus at the opening of the cervix. As you remove your fingers, you should be able to see some mucus.

You can enter your cervical mucus quality (among other fertility clues) on the DuoFertility reader or software. Do not worry if you do not feel confident about checking your cervical mucus quality. DuoFertility uses statistical calculations to assess how good you are at checking and evaluating your cervical mucus quality and will take it in consideration in its analysis in order to predict your fertile period as accurately as possible.
