Detecting Ovulation

You can now forget about the early mornings and the confusing chartsYou can now forget about the early mornings and the confusing charts

The World Health Organisation (WHO) set up a task force in 1972 to improve methods for the prediction of ovulation. Many scientists were involved in this research and have contributed greatly to current scientific knowledge about the menstrual cycle. The major focus of this program was to identify markers of the ‘fertile window’.

Scientists focused their efforts on improving both the clinical and home detection of ovulation. In the clinical setting, pelvic ultrasonography and immunobinding assay? have greatly improved the accuracy of detection of the fertile window. Ultrasonography is now considered the gold standard? (collins wp 1991), for ovulation detection.

In the home environment, the material used for detecting ovulation is quite different and actually relies a lot more on women being willing to make their own observations routinely and accurately. This often means waking up early every day to measure their body basal temperature, collecting urine samples to test their hormone? levels and the diligent recording of fertility clues (cervical mucus quality, cervix position etc.).

Recently, several companies have made great progress in the detection of hormonal levels in urine, which can be used to estimate the probable date of ovulation and therefore the fertile window, but this technology does not confirm that ovulation has actually occurred. Though a few advances have been made, in the home environment the ONLY method that can help you identify when you ovulate is undoubtedly BBT measurement. Thus, until now, if you wanted to use body basal temperature to monitor your fertility, you would have had to wake early everyday in order to take measurements of your temperature.

In contrast, the technology used by the DuoFertility system conveniently allows you to get accurate BBT measurements without having to wake up early or check every day. It is all done automatically which means that you don’t have to compromise or adjust your lifestyle to fit around our technology. DuoFertility was designed to fit your lifestyle!

We would like to emphasise that DuoFertility is not a contraceptive device and should not be used as such. It is a fertility device.
