You can operate the DuoFertility reader by using the scroll-area and the central button. You can use the scroll-area to scroll in either direction to select different functions on the reader, which are indicated by the various icons which light up.

To switch the reader ON, hold the central button for 3 seconds. All the lights will switch on for a second, indicating that the reader is now ready to be used.

To switch the reader OFF, hold the central button for 3 seconds. All the lights will switch off.

When the reader is switched on, the DuoFertility logo will either flash green or red. If it is flashing green, all recent data has been read and the reader is ready to estimate fertility. If it is flashing red, that recent data has not yet been read and that this must be done before fertility can be estimated. In the case of the latter, you should download the data as described here.

If the reader doesn’t switch on when you want to use it, you should plug it into your computer in order to charge the battery.

When the DuoFertility reader is turned on, it will automatically carry out a test of its own performance. All the LEDs will light up and then fade if the reader's internal self-test has succeeded. If not, the “connect me to your computer” icon will flash. Connecting the reader to the computer and running the PC software will give the explanation for why it required connection.
